Great Memorial Day Party

Tuesday, May 31, 2005

We had a fantastic memorial day party turned out great. We couldn't have asked for better weather and most people showed up. The final tally is ~ 63 people. Not bad!

My only regret is that I couldn't talk with as many people as I would have liked, but I think the kids were all well entertained between the hot tub and the various inflatable, swings, horse shoes, horse, trampoline, etc that we had.

Thanks to a couple of people... Scott for setting off a rocket twice.

Cliff for bringing out his PA system and for manning the grill. Next time, we'll have to let people know ahead of time so they can bring out their instruments.

And to everyone who brought something to share!

Long Silence

I've been emersed in working on my website which is now about 95% done. MidWestHouseHunter.com which is a site for people to list their homes for sale and Open Houses. It's been a lot of work and I've redone some of the pages 3-4 times as I learn new techniques or modify things to handle new requirements. But, it is finally ready for the mainstream.

The next phase is to start advertising. I've contacted a couple local radio stations and a bill board company and we'll see what I can afford to start out with. I also have a friend who can make up yard signs for me rather inexpensively.

So, other then that, which has taken up most of my free time for the last 4 weeks, things are going well in our little family. Broderick has his first Baseball game of the season tonight and Bridget is playing softball, but the games haven't started yet.

Holly will be co-president of Unity East's PTO next year, which already has her doing a lot of work to finish out this year and get ready for the new year.

We've been doing a lot of landscaping around the house, removing rock that surrounded the addition and putting in Hostas, putting borders around the flower gardens, and other misc stuff. We are having a big Memorial Day bash this coming weekend (on Memorial Day) that we are also getting ready for.

We finally got the tile at the end of the lane fixed. Anyone who has visited us in the last 6 months knows that the lane has almost always had a small stream running across it. Turns out that trees on the neighbor's yard had clogged up the tile draining Clark's hill. We also had the end of the lane graded which made it much smoother. Now, we just need to put down a nice layer of gravel and it might last awhile.

I was mowing the prairie paths this last week when I hit a dirt pile and broke the U-joint on the mower :( I had gotten everything on the North mowed, which is good, but I'd like to get it fixed in time for the party to mow things one more time. I think Lefty's pasture could use it as well.

We've been working a little on the house. I have the tile down in our bathroom closet and Holly has been mudding our bedroom. We hope to have the bedroom painted and the tile put in in front of the sliding door as well before Monday.. (We'll see!)

Tons has been going on in the last few weeks, and now I can't think of anything! I promise not to keep people in the dark so long this time!

This sounds like a pretty neat idea!
