Fixed problem with blog

Monday, July 31, 2006

I haven't been able to post for about 2 months.. just timed out.. I finally deleted the whole /brett directory and republished the entire blog. Evidently, some file was locked, preventing updates..

Trying to get back on the horse again...

First full day on the beach

We had a rough night last night. Holly caught a cold, and being pregnant, can't take anything for it. So, she was up a lot during the night coughing, which meant, I was up a lot during the night.

We ended up waking up around 10 this morning, so kinda late start to the day. After getting some food, we heading down to the beach and spent most of the day there. Orion is really doing well with getting his face in the water... ok, so he doesn't have a choice when the waves are crashing down ontop of him, but rather then freaking out, he is dealing with it.

We came in for a couple of hours during lunch and went back out and played some more. The beach really is nice, but we really miss the pool and being right on the beach. Our house is about 3 blocks off, which is really nothing, we're just used to being spoiled. :)

We saw some amazing dolphin activity. We are used to seeing one or two on occasion, but this afternoon, we saw a pod of at least 12 swim by. It was incredible! At one time, there was a dolphin coming up less then 15' from Broderick in the water.. truly amazing! Of course, I did not have my camera with me.. but maybe I'll have luck tomorrow and get some photos!

Tomorrow is supposed to be really hot (98), so we are going to start off with some site seeing before it gets too bad and then head to the beach in the afternoon.

I took lots of nice pictures which will soon be posted in my picture gallery. :)

Driving to Beaufort, SC

Sunday, July 30, 2006

Since we couldn't check into the beach house until 4 PM, we decided to drive up to Beaufort, SC and have lunch at the Shrimp Shack after the kids played in the pool. The drive up was nice, a lot of the old 2 lane roads have been replaced with 4 lane roads, so the trip went by very quickly.

Unfortunately, Shrimp Shack was closed (even though their door said Open Daily), so teh trip was for naught. We ate lunch at Johnson Creek Tavern and drove down to look at the light house. It was open, but expensive enough that we skipped it. $2/person to climb the light house, and $1.50/child and $4.50/adult to get into the park. We decided it wasn't worth $30 to climb the light house.. so we drove back to Tybee Island and checked into the house.

It is very cute. Small, but very functional. We went to beach, which is very nice. Lots of white sand and note too crowded. We played for a couple of hours and came back for pizza and bed.

On our way to Savannah, GA!!

Saturday, July 29, 2006

We left this morning at 3 AM to make it to Savannah, GA shortly after the 4 PM check-in time. The drive down went pretty well.. everyone stayed asleep until Evansville, IN and we were in Chattanooga by Noon. We had a fair amount of rain during the trip, but overall it was good. Traffic wasn't too bad, but South of Atlanta, the Northbound traffic was way backed up... so I am a bit afraid we may hit that on the way back.

The bad thing is that we got to our beach house on Tybee Island to find out that someone else was there! After rereading our confermation, we found out that we were a day early! Every beach rental we've ever had was Sat to Sat, but this one is Sunday to Sat. Turns out you can get this house for any number of days.

Well, after driving around Savannah for 2 hours we finally found a hotel with vacancy. The owner of the vacation house was great enough to get us a really good rate (she has some connections).. so after 16 hours driving.. we finally got a place to stay. Hoping tomorrow is better

Sebastian and Amanda Franks Wedding

Sunday, July 09, 2006

I just got home from spending 4 days out in Vermont for my Nephew Sebastian's wedding to Amanda Smith. It was a lovely time, I flew out with Trent and Karen and flew back with Trent, Karen, and Amelia. I am sorry that my family couldn't go, but it was great being with my 3 oldest siblings.. that doesn't happen very often.

Here are the wedding pictures

Vermont was very lovely. We flew into Hartford CT and then drove 3 hours to Ludlow, VT, which is where Amanda and Sebastian met and close to where Amanda grew up.

Congrats!!!

We just found out that Holly is pregnant! After getting a reversal and months of trying (I know, such hard work) it has paid off!

Congrats to us!

I'll update more when I know more. Bridget really wants a little sister. :)
