It has been another big year for the Barnhart family with the arrival of our third child and relocating for a new job.
At the end of February our sweet little Lucy Olivia made her long awaited debut into the world, at almost 3 weeks late it was a bit much to be considered 'fashionably late'.
Our move to Nebraska is the 2nd biggest happening for us this year. Brett received a job offer from Gallup (as in the Gallup polls..) in Omaha and we moved the first part of November. For now we are renting a house in a suburb outside of Omaha until we can get a good feel for the area and decide where we would really like to put down roots. There is a lot to do here, a wonderful zoo, children's museum, Strategic air command, water parks, skating, and ton of other stuff we haven't even gotten to yet. The kids are a part of the Omaha school district and have an opportunity to apply to some of the magnet schools for next year. The one we like is a science and technology school that partners with NASA for some of their robotics programs. We'll be keeping our fingers crossed that this works out for them.
Lucy is quite the busy princess ruling over her loyal subjects. She is 9 months old and has mastered the art of stair climbing , very important when storming the castle, toilet paper unrolling (not so sure of it's practical use in society), wiggling like crazy when it's diaper changing time and has also managing to walk cruising the furniture, walls, pants, fingers or whatever else may be handy. She also enjoys eating books, squealing, opening and closing cabinets, turning off lights and the usual baby babble.
Broderick adores Lucy and she adores him at least that's what we tell him when she grabs a handful of his hair and pulls with all her might. He still enjoys all things Star Wars, video games, sometimes reading books, coming up with new inventions video games, trying to skateboard, legos and did I mention video games? Broderick has been a great student even with the move to a different school. As I'm sure most of you have noticed he has grown his hair out this year. The plan is to cut it very short on New Year's Eve and let it grow the entire year until next New Year's Eve, measure it and cut it off to donate to Locks of love.
Bridget has been a great big sister unless she's preoccupied with reading. Most of the time you can find Bridget curled up on the sofa or in her room with a book in hand. She probably reads 2-3 books a week and can occasionally be found reading long after she's been tucked in for the night. Bridget has adjusted to her new school quite well too. She says she has better friends here than she did at home. Other than reading Bridget enjoys playing video games, watching movies and collecting dragons.
Brett is really enjoying his new job at Gallup. The people he works with are fun and outgoing and he's excited to be working with the latest technologies and learning a lot of new things. He has also started exercising at Gallup's in house gym a few days a week.
As for me, I stay home and take care of Lucy, take the kids to and from school, and have recently started going to the gym again. I hope to resume belly dancing classes in the New Year.
We would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and best wishes for a fantastic 2008!
