Where are you located?

The prairie is located on Old Church Rd 2 miles South of Urbana between Philo Rd and Race St. Currently, there is no direct road access to the prairie, but in coming years, there will be marked parking.

I'd like to bring my organization out for a tour...

A large part of our mission statement is providing educational resources for school and group tours. If you are interested in bringing your group out to the prairie, please contact us to arrange a time.

I'd like to conduct research on the prairie...

Prairie research is very active on the Restoration project. To ensure that all research is compatible with the core mission of the project, we require a synopsis of the research prior to any activity. Please contact Brett Barnhart for more information.

In addition, you wil have to apply for a Special Use Permit from the Illinois Nature Preserves Commission. The application does take a couple of months to process, so plan early!

For more information on ongoing research projects, please see our Research Section.

Is the park open to the public?

While the prairie is open to the public, we do require advance notice before any visit. This is to ensure public safety as there are various research projects on going at any time. If you are interested in arranging a time to come out for a visit, please contact us.
